Bryanston at Marlow Regatta 2025: Building Momentum Ahead of Henley
The 2025 Marlow Regatta offered school and club crews one final test ahead of Henley Royal Regatta qualifiers. Held at Dorney Lake, the event featured a time trial format followed by seeded finals, challenging crews to deliver both raw speed and consistency under pressure. Bryanston School’s 1st VIII stepped up with a determined row across the course, showing promising signs in the lead-up to one of the biggest races of the season.
Bryanston’s Performance
In the morning time trial over 1900m, Bryanston posted a time of 6 minutes 16 seconds, a solid effort that placed them into the K final. This seeding reflected a strong performance amid a deep field and positioned them well for side-by-side racing in the afternoon.
In the K final itself, Bryanston delivered a composed race, finishing third. While not at the front of the regatta overall, their ability to execute under race conditions and hold off other evenly matched crews suggests growing cohesion and tactical maturity.
Race Context and Results
The Marlow format groups crews by time into finals ranging from A downward, making the K final a mid-tier contest. Bryanston’s placement and podium finish in that final show they are within striking distance of faster crews, especially with refinements to pacing and race rhythm.
Though times in the K final were unofficially recorded, Bryanston held their form from the morning time trial and proved competitive in a race that often tests depth and recovery.
